Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief ministry led by Franklin Graham.  It provides support for veterans, healthcare, career development, and food for families around the world.

Another aspect of their ministry is Operation Christmas Child.  This effort collects shoebox gifts for children around the world as an expression of God’s love.  These shoesboxes are given as opportunities to share the Gospel through the Greatest Journey Bible Study.  In 2023, Hermitage Hills collected 465 boxes.  This is 465 opportunities for the Gospel to be shared with a child!

 

Not only does our congregation fill individual shoeboxes, but we also participate by being a drop off site and a central drop off stie.   As a drop off site, we provide a place for the community to drop filled shoeboxes off during scheduled hours.  We greet, unload, count, carton, and pray with each person that drops off.  As a central drop off site, we provide a place for area drop off sites to bring their cartoned filled shoeboxes to load onto a truck for transport to a processing site.

Atlanta Mission Trip Operation Christmas Child

 

This year, we will go on an Operation Christmas Child mission trip.  We will send a team of six to Atlanta, GA to one of the Operation Christmas Child Processing Centers.  There we will help sort individual shoeboxes so that the boxes are ready for the journey to children around the world.

Cost:  $450 per person (Hermitage Hills provides $100 in mission support to members)

Participants:  Must be 18 years of age or older

Physical Requirements:  able to stand a large portion of the day
