Appalachia Mission Trip
Appalachia Mission Trip
The team had a great trip as they served through the Send Relief Center in Ashland, KY.
On Sunday, the team went to church at First Baptist today, heard a great message, witnessed a baptism (which they do outside) and had some free time in the afternoon.
On Monday, the team took a warehouse tour. They also did painting prep, sorted clothes, made snack packs, did outdoor cleanup at the Lovewell Center and took a praywalking tour of Ashland.
On Tuesday, the team went to the Lovewell Center to clean, work at the store, serve food, and host bingo. After the store closed, they did the first coat of painting.
On Wednesday, the team went to the Lovewell Center to paint the second coat in the store, sort clothes, put items out in the store, and pressure wash the trash cans. In the afternoon, they headed to the Bluegrass Motel for motel mission outreach. They cooked hot dogs for the people staying at the motel and invited them to the community meal on Thursday night.
On Thursday, the team went back to the Lovewell Center to finish painting the store and sort/hang another trolley of clothing. Then, they prepared baked ziti, garlic bread, and salad for the community meal that evening. They served 78 people which allowed the Lovewell Center to deepen their connection to the community.
On Friday, the team arrived home ready to serve again.
Mark your calendars for June 19-25, 2027, as we go to serve again in Appalachia.
