English as a Second Language (ESL)
Our fall semester will begin Wednesday, August 17th. No pre-registration required. Simply come on the 17th to register and begin learning with us.
We will host Conversations Cafe's over the summer so that our students can come and practice what they have learned through conversation in a casual, relaxed setting. Please join us on June 15 and 29 and July 13 and 27 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. There will be snacks and activities for the children.
Registration for our ESL classes will begins in September each year. Classes are offered on Wednesday nights, September through May, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church (3475 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage). There are classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Students in the Basic Beginners class use the Foundations curriculum while the Beginners and Intermediate classes use Side by Side; both curriculums are from Pearson Longman Co. Advanced students curriculum includes: building vocabulary, conversation, idioms, proverbs, pronunciation and some writing. All classes are taught in English. You can register at any time during the year when you attend your first class. The cost is $25 for the year.
We offer three classes - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This is an amazing way to connect our community to the church and to Christ. You can join us by serving in many ways through facilitating a class, being a class helper, hosting the welcome table, hosting the snack area, and helping with administrative tasks.
Classes are offered on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Our classes begin Wednesday, September 1, and will run through the end of May. Currently, we have 15 students who represent eleven countries and six languages.
