20 days of prayer for schools as they begin the new year:

 

DAY TWENTY:  "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2 

God, We lift our hearts to you as I pray for human flourishing for all. God, sometimes it can feel hard to know how to flourish and thrive due to difficult life circumstances. Some days can feel like a battle as we navigate the unexpected and sometimes heartbreaking twists and turns of life – a job loss, financial insecurity, sickness, anxiety, depression, worries and doubts, and the weariness of living in a place that is not our ultimate home. God, we need you, and our only hope is you. Please plunge to the depths of our weary and broken hearts, sit with us in our unique situation, and remind us of your nearness and the hope we have in you which extends far beyond what our eyes can see. 

Lord, last, I pray specifically for the flourishing of those that are struggling with their mental and emotional health. We know there are many who feel like they are in a desperate place, those that feel unseen, unknown, and misunderstood, and individuals who feel weighed down with the cares of life. Please be near to them, Lord, light their path for them, surround them with a community of support, and cause the flourishing of their mental and emotional health for your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

DAY NINETEEN:  “Above all, be firm and steadfast, taking care to observe the entire law which my servant Moses enjoined on you. Do not swerve from it either to the right or to the left, that you may succeed wherever you go. Keep this book of the law on your lips. Recite it by day and by night, that you may observe carefully all that is written in it; then you will successfully attain your goal. I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God, is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:7-9 

Lord, In Joshua 1:7-9, you provide encouragement to Joshua after Moses is gone to lead the Israelites with bravery. You have asked us to follow the laws you have given and bestowed upon your people. Let us always listen to you first in all we do so that we can be worthy as children of God. There are many first responders who enter unknown and possibly unsafe situations. I ask for your protection of them as they courageously put their lives and mental health in danger in order to provide safety to communities. Please bless them for all they do for their communities. You ask for us not to be dismayed, but to be brave in all we do. Continue to give first responders the courage in all they do. God you are always with us, help us to always remember this command you gave us. The devil works in fear and worry, God, banish all evilness from communities. 

I pray that the community can support police officers, first responders, medical and mental health professionals.  I ask that you build the capacity of communities to support their civil servants by providing mental health resources, and relational equity. Please keep our communities safe and/or give us the resources to make our communities safer.  We lay down our worries, and trust that you are always with us.  In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,  Amen 

 

Prayer is vital as we move forward with the vision of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church of seeing people experience lifechange through Jesus Christ.

We ask that you join us as we pray for our church.  Pray for the church to see people to passionate about sharing with the ONE, for people to accept the call to be the ONE who shares the Gospel, for our partners and mission areas to make a difference in the lives of the ONE, for unreached people groups around the world to know the ONE true God, for our staff as they lead, for the many ministries of our church as we share the Gospel, and for ourselves as we go on mission each day in our area of influence.
