2018-19 Hermitage Hills LIFEgroup Adopt-A-Teacher Program
- LIFEgroups commit to regularly pray for that teacher and for Hermitage Elementary. LIFEgroups will receive a “get to know you” profile of the teacher.
- LIFEgroups commit to assist the second-grade teacher twice a month for 1-hour during the school day. At least one volunteer from the LIFEgroup will help with classroom needs such as organizing resources, using flash cards with struggling students, etc. Our partnership liaison (Dan Blumhart) will coordinate time slots and answer any questions.
- A free background check is required for all volunteers. (See instructions below.)
- LIFEgroups are encouraged to share their stories to increase awareness for our school partnerships.
We encourage two LIFEgroups to adopt a Hermitage Elementary 2nd grade teacher and share the volunteer needs. Each teacher will work out a set 1-hour time slot in which a volunteer from the LIFEgroup will fill two set time slots a month.
While not required, other opportunities for supporting the teacher and the classroom may naturally evolve as individuals or LIFEgroups decide they would like to support in additional ways. This could be things like supplies for the classroom, classroom set up help, additional volunteer days, additional student reading/support/mentoring. (Generally, the support will not involve tangible/financial related needs unless they are pre-arranged in agreement with the partnership liaison and Principal).
LIFEgroup leaders can simply complete the online form below to sign up! One of our coordinators will contact you with information, teacher profiles and potential time slots for your volunteers. We can help answer your questions and make this as easy as possible to commit and serve.
More questions? Contact Dan Blumhardt, our Hermitage Elementary liaison, for answers and feedback at 503-317-1095 or
Each volunteer must complete a free background check, which is required prior to involvement. Go to the link below and select "one-on-one mentoring" (must be processed prior to helping). When the volunteer arrives at the school, they will sign into the front office and sign out when they leave.
Thank you for agreeing to serve!
