Hermitage Hills played host for a breakfast fundraiser for The Covenant Scholarship Program. This scholarship provides a one-time $500 scholarship that can be put towards tuition or books for receiving students at McGavock High School. Students commit to this scholarship their freshman year and must obtain a composite ACT score of 21 or higher, maintain a 3.0 GPA or better and have at least 50 community service hours. This program was conceived in 2009 and the first recipients were the class of 2014. The scholarship is sponsored by the McGavock Cluster Coalition which is made up of community partners both individual and corporate.

The breakfast was held in the Family Life Center on the Hermitage campus. The room provided a stage for the McGavock Orchestra and Choir to perform as entertainment for the fundraiser. Attendees of the event were appreciative of the space provided and the welcoming staff of Hermitage Hills. Jacob Glancy said, “When I arrived to set up before our breakfast fundraiser, Glenn—one of the facilities managers—met us with a huge smile, a warm handshake, and gave some helpful tips about room setup. The space itself was very large, comfortable, and acoustically awesome! Our orchestra and choir students could be heard exceptionally well everywhere in the Family Life Center. Beyond the venue’s excellent qualities, everyone on Hermitage Hills Baptist’s staff was easy to work with and met our every need with servant hearts.”

Hermitage Hills hosted this event as part of the Love Loud ministry. This ministry is Hermitage Hills partnership with local schools such as McGavock High School, Hermitage Elementary, and Neely’s Bend Middle School. We have provided our facilities in the past for McGavock High School last time being for their football banquet. Connecting with these local schools is part of the Take Us to The Edge Campaign.

Pastor Poly came and spoke at the breakfast fundraiser which helped to raise $40,000 to go towards The Covenant Scholarship Program. It is amazing to see the impact of the Next Gen building when used to help provide the needs of the community we are in. Anna Shepherd who is on the Metro Nashville School Board Chair said, “Before Pastor Rouse spoke this morning I had no idea of the building's use or name. How appropriate that we should be celebrating our youth in your wonderful Next Gen building! It was perfect for our needs. The McGavock Cluster Coalition truly appreciates the generosity and welcome that we received from the staff at HHBC. Thank you so much!”
